About Geosigma
We have been constantly developing our consultancy business and expanding into new areas, such as infrastructure, geotechnics, rock, construction project management, contamination in soil and in water, groundwater reservoirs, water and sewage systems and environmental impact assessments. We currently have around 100 employees at our offices in Stockholm, Göteborg and Uppsala and the plan is that the company will double in size.
History
Geosigma was founded in 1991 as a spin-off from SGAB (Sveriges Geologiska AB). Around 25 people started the company and became partners in it.
The company was based on expertise in hydrogeology. Its main customer was SKB (Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company). Initially, the business focused on groundwater prospecting, tracer technology and environmental analyses. From the very beginning, Geosigma invested in establishing an innovation centre which still specialises in developing instruments and new measuring systems in a symbiotic relationship with the consultancy business.
On the basis of Geosigma’s core competencies in soil, rock and water, the company has moved into new markets and customer segments. It still has a strong relationship with SKB (Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company).
Owners
In 2009, Geosigma was acquired by KOLW AB. The founders were of the opinion that new owners would be able to increase the company’s rate of growth. KOLW AB’s shareholders are the Thuresson family, Kurt O. Eriksson and Lars Wiklund. The Geosigma management, through CEO Camilla Sjöstrand and CFO Maria Kimby, are also shareholders in KOLW AB.
