About Geosigma

We ha­ve been con­s­tant­ly de­ve­lo­ping our con­sul­tan­cy bu­si­ness and ex­pan­ding in­to new are­as, such as in­f­ra­structu­re, ge­o­te­ch­nics, rock, con­struc­tion pro­ject ma­na­ge­ment, con­ta­mi­na­tion in soil and in wa­ter, ground­wa­ter re­ser­vo­irs, wa­ter and se­wage sys­tems and en­vi­ron­men­tal im­pact as­sess­ments. We cur­rent­ly ha­ve around 100 employ­e­es at our of­fi­ces in Stockholm, Gö­te­borg and Upp­sa­la and the plan is that the com­pa­ny will doub­le in si­ze.

Histo­ry

Ge­o­sig­ma was foun­ded in 1991 as a spin-off from SGAB (Sve­ri­ges Ge­o­lo­gis­ka AB). Around 25 pe­op­le star­ted the com­pa­ny and beca­me part­ners in it.

The com­pa­ny was ba­sed on ex­per­ti­se in hydro­ge­o­lo­gy. Its main custo­mer was SKB (Swe­dish Nu­c­le­ar Fu­el and Was­te Ma­na­ge­ment Com­pa­ny). Ini­ti­al­ly, the bu­si­ness focu­sed on ground­wa­ter pro­spec­ting, tra­cer te­ch­no­lo­gy and en­vi­ron­men­tal ana­ly­ses. From the ve­ry be­gin­ning, Ge­o­sig­ma in­ve­s­ted in es­tab­lishing an in­no­va­tion cen­t­re which still spe­ci­a­li­ses in de­ve­lo­ping in­stru­ments and new me­a­su­ring sys­tems in a sym­bi­o­tic re­la­tions­hip with the con­sul­tan­cy bu­si­ness.

On the ba­sis of Ge­o­sig­ma’s co­re com­pe­ten­ci­es in soil, rock and wa­ter, the com­pa­ny has mo­ved in­to new mar­kets and custo­mer seg­ments. It still has a strong re­la­tions­hip with SKB (Swe­dish Nu­c­le­ar Fu­el and Was­te Ma­na­ge­ment Com­pa­ny).

Ow­ners

In 2009, Ge­o­­si­g­­ma was ac­­qui­­red by KOLW AB. The foun­­ders we­­re of the opi­­ni­on that new ow­­ners would be ab­­le to in­c­­re­a­­se the com­­pa­ny’s ra­­te of growth. KOLW AB’s sha­rehol­ders are the Thu­­res­­son fa­­mily, Kurt O. Er­iks­­son and Lars Wiklund. The Ge­o­sig­ma ma­na­ge­ment, through CEO Ca­mil­la Sjöst­rand and CFO Ma­ria Kim­by, are al­so sha­rehol­ders in KOLW AB.

Board of directors

The chair of Ge­o­­si­g­­ma’s Board is Kurt O. Er­iks­son, whom has a long and well-es­­tab­­lished back­ground in Te­ch­­ni­cal Con­­sul­­tan­­cy. He has held ma­­na­ge­­ment ro­­les in VI­AK, VBB­VI­AK and SWE­CO and was a me­m­­ber of the SWE­CO group Ma­­na­ge­­ment Team from 2000 to 2007.

Ge­o­sig­ma’s Ma­na­ging Director, Ca­mil­la Sjöst­rand MSc CEng MI­Struc­tE MI­EI, has about 20 ye­ars main­ly in­ter­na­tio­nal ex­pe­ri­en­ce of Con­sul­ting Ci­vil En­gi­ne­e­ring, and held the po­si­tion of Director of En­gi­ne­e­ring at Atkins Ire­land Ltd from 2002 to 2008. She jo­i­ned Ge­o­sig­ma from Atkins Swe­den.

The ow­­ners are further re­p­­re­­sen­­ted on the Board by Lars Wiklund and Mar­cus Thu­­res­­son. The Employ­ee Re­p­­re­­sen­­ta­­ti­­ve is Bengt Gentz­sche­in. Mem­ber of the Board is al­so To­mas Ny­g­ren, vi­ce MD and CFO at In­no­va­tions­bron AB. He has al­so ex­ten­si­ve ex­pe­ri­en­ce of ma­na­ge­ment po­si­tions in se­ve­ral other com­pa­ni­es.
