Kapellskärsledningen (water and sewage pipeline)
Project and objectives
Kapellskärsledningen is a new water and sewage pipeline running between Norrtälje and Gräddö via Kapellskär. The purpose of the pipeline is to reduce the amount of sewage discharged into the sea and to bring a drinking water supply to the port. Around 4000 properties can now be connected to the mains network, which makes it possible for many people to consider living permanently in the area.
Description
The project involved detailed planning of the water and sewage pipes. The pipes are made of plastic (polyethylene, also referred to as PE) and range in diameter from 160 to 400 mm. Each pipeline is around 20 km in length. A shorter stretch of pipeline was laid underwater. The project is now in its final phase and our responsibility is to complete the as-built documentation on the basis of the contractor’s work.
